Alfare is a logical phonetic alphabet, inspired by the Alfunanto of Matthew “Napishtim”, which was specially designed to write Mundeze. It matches the shape of the letters with their pronunciation (the position of the stems and the “belly” indicates respectively the mode and the articulation point of the consonants):

Explanation

This table classifies the articulated consonants by mode and articulation point.

The lines show the different manners of articulation (the way you eject air to articulate), represented by the stems (the straight vertical stroke of the letter);
The columns show the different places of articulation (the place in the mouth where the air is blocked to articulate a consonant), represented by the “bellies” (the part of the letter that appears in the X-height).

Alfare does not use capital letters, but tolerates the use of bigger letters as capital letters.
As can be seen, consonants are all written with a long stem, and the voiced letters are all written with a loop on it. To transcribe the French “R”, we could write “ha” () as follows:
